Vince Haines – Pop Magic Vince Haines, better known as Pop Magic, has been fascinated by the art of magic since discovering it as a teenager in Dunedin, New Zealand, in the mid-1970s. What began as a youthful interest developed into a lifelong passion for performing, entertaining and exploring the many different facets of magic. In the early 1980s Vince became a member of the Otago Magic Circle, where he gained valuable experience performing alongside other magicians at theatres, community events, schools, fundraisers and public functions throughout Otago and Southland. Alongside magic, Vince developed a strong interest in theatre, performing in operatic productions and working behind the scenes as a theatre mechanist and lighting operator. These experiences helped develop his understanding of presentation, audience interaction and the theatrical side of entertainment. After relocating to Western Australia in 2001, Vince continued to develop his performing career and established Pop Magic, providing magical entertainment throughout Perth and regional Western Australia. His performances range from close-up, strolling and interactive magic through to stage shows, community events, festivals, agricultural shows, corporate functions and family entertainment. He particularly enjoys the challenge of adapting his performance to suit the audience, venue and occasion. Vince's approach to magic is firmly centred on entertainment and audience participation. Whether performing for a small group or a large public audience, his aim is to create those memorable moments when people stop wondering “How did he do that?” and simply enjoy being amazed. A long-standing member of the West Australian Society of Magicians, Vince has also served as President of WASM and remains actively involved in supporting the local magic community. For Vince, magic is not simply about knowing the secret behind an effect – it is about presentation, personality, connection with an audience and continually learning and sharing with fellow magicians.
